Orchestra - Holly Fischer, Conductor
Holly Fischer has been a music teacher and advocate of music education for over ten years. She has taught bands and orchestras in Connecticut and Southern California, helping to create and conduct the Connecticut All State Elementary Honors Orchestra which still continues annually.
She also worked with an El Sistema program in Tarija, Bolivia, and a music school in Cochabamba, Bolivia. She has strived to create inclusive and strong programs that cater to the many needs of her students. Holly is Sinfonia Director with the Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California, currently teaches in the Tustin Unified School District at Pioneer Middle School, and previously taught in the Long Beach Unified School District at Hamilton Middle School. Ms. Fischer spent two summers in Kabul, Afghanistan working with students at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. There she taught cello, bass, beginning strings and chamber music lessons. She also helped to record a professional album with the Ensemble Zohra, the first all girls orchestra in Afghanistan: Rosegarden of Light, which featured students from the Afghanistan National Institute of Music as well as the ensemble Cuatro Puntos. As a performer, Ms Fischer has played double bass with ensembles across Southern California, as well as the East Coast, South America and Europe. Holly received her Bachelors in Music Education and Double Bass Performance from Cal-State Long Beach. Holly attended Wildwood Institute of Music for 7 years as a camper, as well as working as a counselor, double bass coach, and is excited to return as a music director. |
