Auditioning at Wildwood
While auditions are not required to enroll at Wildwood, they are necessary for our coaches and conductors to review each students abilities for proper placement within their section and for placement in chamber ensembles. Once registration has been completed on the first day students will be directed to their cabins where they can unpack, settle in and warm up before meeting with their coach.
Students may or may not be asked to play major/minor scales, sight-read a selection of music and discuss their own goals for their week at wildwood. We encourage students to bring a selection of music they have been working on in school or with their private teacher(s) in order to display their current skills confidently.
After dinner on the day of registration students will attend their first large ensemble rehearsal to read music which may or may not be selected for the weeks literature. During this period student seating may be changed more then once until our coaching staff is confident that their instrumental section is best seated to meet the needs of the group and their conductor.
