Excellence in Coaching
Wildwood is known for having a dynamic coaching staff that encourages and inspires students to new heights every year. We are fortunate to have several State Credentialed music educators who teach in schools across Southern California as our coaching faculty who are dedicated to our mission and continue to come back year after year. New coaches join us each season as we continue to collaborate with promising musicians who have/are studying music performance and education in graduate programs bringing music to today's youth.
Our full faculty/staff to student ratio in the 2015 season was 1:3. We boast a unique experience where students are our first priority in not only music education but also in personal growth and development. We foster a community setting to promote and instill our love of music and performance with everyone who participates in a session at Wildwood. Our faculty and staff are chosen through professional references and a detailed interview process to insure each individual will be the right fit in our program. Each individual is carefully screened and has cleared a background check to ensure our student safety.
Our counselor to Camper ratio varies between 1:8 and 1:10 depending on cabin occupancy and enrollment. Students are housed by grade and assigned to a counselor who bunks with them and oversees general daily well being and evening sleep routines. Many of our counselors are former Wildwood students who have been invited to return as staff and have a passion for music, most pursuing music in their university educations. Counselors supervise and lead all student activities outside of student rehearsals. Camper morale and safety are their top priority to ensure each student has the best possible experience at Wildwood.
