Nathan Buck, Boys Dean

Nathan started at Wildwood as a percussionist in middle school and fell in love with the camp. He attended each summer until aged out and was was asked to come a counselor. Eventually he was asked to assume the position of Dean of Boys. While students are in rehearsal at camp, Nathan enjoys observing the directors and coaches. The opportunity treat the environment as  a master class for his own teaching skills has proven useful each year. He continues to grow as an educator and is willing to assist wherever he might be able to in the percussion section.  He credits Wildwood as an environment where he continues to be inspired and driven in his passion for music education.

During the year, you can find him as an assistant director for the non-profit organization nTyme, teaching the beginning band. He is currently working at San Marco Fire Baugh High School as the percussion instructor/music tutor, in addition to serving as a music coach for multiple schools in the greater Los Angeles county.

Nathan has been playing instruments in the fourth grade,. At an early age  he decided to become a music teacher. After starting on flute in elementary school, he gradually added saxophone, percussion, brass, woodwinds, and strings. Many of these instruments were learned out of the need to coach new students at nTyme, who needed someone to coach them in order for them to participate in the performance ensemble. Nathan is currently pursuing a music education degree at Cal State University Dominguez Hills.
